My Theory on Corporate Rat Race
Its been clinically researched and proven that humans like to feel in control. This is a distinct human nature ....
My theory on why indians in general love to be in managerial position :
most of the indians are bred up having no control on their present/future. They don't get to decide their career, their mates, day to day trivia that makes an individual. Plus, the society structure and the infrastructure is such that at times it imposes control on you. In order to fulfill their natural human instinct of being in control - since they cannot be in control of themselves, they have to have a control on someone else. Jobs are one good place, where seniors can holler at juniors. Thats control.

Its my belief that a guy who is terribly controlled in his office would be controlling someone in that same manner at home, in most cases his wife or his kids. In older generations, women had almost no control, so they would control their daughter in laws and the cycle goes on.
Women managers are supposed to be more fierce - first because they need to prove themselves twice more to stay in the competition .... second because in society women have comparatively less power on their self as compared to men, and given a chance , the human nature thrives and a more controlling nature comes out.
In west, where an individual has comparitively way more control on his present/future, this instinct to control someone else is way diminished if not eliminated. Hence less corporate rat race to the top in west.
In short - ppl who are in less control of their own self, crave to get in position to control others.

My Trek 4300
Rust Coloured Trek 4300 which I bought today :)
its got 100mm-travel RST Gila suspension fork, and 24-speed Shimano drivetrain
Trek 4500 would have been better and smoother and it had a 120mm
suspension fork , but I preferred this because of the color. Trek 4500
had a sad color of brown and white.
i chose colour over specs :D
went on a 6-8 mile ride at 10 pm ... and i guess i like it :)

Sunday run & the chase
Went to run a 10K only with the RFL folks, ended up doing it twice .. so 20K.
A bit of an adventure ... at round 17KMs ... this group of nasty looking bulls with sharp horns started chasing me. They would have tested the sharpness of their horns on me, but for the runner (thanks man) behind me who yelled ... and I managed to jump into the bushes ...
I had music at full volume ... so the dude had to yell really loud after running 17 KMS. Rest of the day was quite uneventful.

Pleasures of the feet...
Have to catch up on my running now that my mom has left for India. So when Veera is running 10K today in Kauveri Marathon in Bangalore, I thought of checking the ski hill at Afton Alps, some 15 miles from Woodbury, my city. I would no doubtedly say that my venue gets more brownie points :p. A carpet of green grass... surrounded by wooded hills... and totally mine ... as it was 7:30 pm on a Saturday and not a soul to be seen around... though its bang in the middle of a State Park.
I couldnt resist to run barefoot on the damp grass after one run ... one of the most sensuous feelings...
I read this book by Christopher Mc Dougall -" Born to run" recently. Came across a paragraph which stated that the senstivity in our soles is just the same as that of our lips. Well my soles are pretty rough and hard ... but still today as I ran on grass... it was as if I could feel every single blade of the million of grass shoots. And then there was a patch in which they had cleared up the grass the way they do on golf course... it was sheer ecstasy to walk on it!!
